Martin Luther king’s intended audience were African Americans who were affected by the civil rights movement which meant to be a change for many of them but instead the outcomes were not as desired. The civil rights movement was meant to allow negro slaves a chance at freedom however still to that day almost 100 years later, they were still not granted their freedom. King uses his speech to establish a platform for his wise words in hopes to ‘cash a check’ which meant fight for their freedom. He hoped to archive a wide range of people making a change that was once promised to them but never fulfilled. He spoke what everyone was thinking but had not said he spoke facts and nothing else in order to rally up a troop of those who had been wronged. The style and structure of Martin Luther King’s speech assembled one that had been entrenched with emotion, pain, and experience. He related to those who had been suffering as he was and to get the words of his speech to their heart...
