What is the value of preserving indigenous languages? For example: Consider aboriginal languages with rich vocabularies used to describe the natural world. The loss of a language is not just about losing the language but also the unique arts and cosmologies that come along with it. A language is is an important part of one's society and identity however when it dies out, future generations lose a vital part of their culture which contributes to the understanding of that certain culture.
